A new report from the AP shows that Florida has three cities or metro areas that are among the to 10 for growth over the past year.
The greater Tampa area topped 3,000,000 last year, with an increase of 58,000 new residents migrating to the region for a total of 61,000. The increase places Tampa Bay at fourth on the list for growth based on percentage of total population added.
South Florida, which includes Miami, grew by almost 65,000 residents and boasts a total population of over 6,000,000 – good enough for seventh on the list.
Meanwhile, in the middle of the state, Orlando gained 48,000 new residents through migration (approx 60,000 overall) ranking it eighth on the list for growth, with a total population of 2.4 million.
