Pets are incredibly talented individuals, and they might not even know it. Some pets are accomplishing more in medicine by accident then some Ph.D.’s are by design.

98% of pet owners consider their pets to be family members. Pets are also a natural treatment for the symptoms in the headline of this article. How many of your human family members can do that for you?

The Anxiety and Depression Association of America makes it clear that the pet effect is real; people are happier and healthier in the presence of their pets. About 75% of American pet owners admitted to an improvement in mental health with the companionship of a furry friend, according to a survey.

According to another study, pets help their owners sleep better and have fewer nightmares. Some dogs are even trained to detect when an episode might occur for people with narcolepsy, up to 5 minutes before it occurs.

Cats are ruled the unsung hero of mental health for people with PTSD. We reached out to several kittens and puppies for comment, but we only received really cute barks and meows.
