A court jury in Oakland, California has handed down a verdict that awarded a couple $2 billion in a lawsuit claiming that being exposed to an outdoor weed killer Round-Up caused them to develop cancer. The verdict included $55 million in compensatory damages to the couple and $2 billion in punitive damages, totaling around $2.055 billion.

Round-Up is owned by Monsanto, who was acquired by parent company Bayer less than a year ago. Bayer plans to appeal the $2 billion judgment. Another man was awarded $80 this year in a similar lawsuit.
