Looking to kickstart your career? Look no further than your own backyard. A new report by WalletHub, a personal finance website, ranked the 180 top cities in the country to kickstart your career.

Tampa Bay was ranked 11th in the nation and 2nd in the state. The study is based on 29 metrics. The study mainly looks at workforce diversity, availability of entry-level jobs, and monthly average starting salary. Among the top of the reasons is that Tampa Bay is just a destination place for many people in general.

John Flanagan, the CEO of CareerSource Tampa said he is not surprised, stating “we’ve got a fairly elaborate tech and finance sector so we have a lot of careers for the graduates just breaking into the labor market. Not to mention, Florida and especially Tampa, is a destination. A lot of people want to be here for various reasons”. He also noted that there are 60,000 available jobs, a number that heavily outweighs the unemployment here. The study did also mention that the quality of life in Tampa ranked at 43rd out of 180 cities.
