ST. PETERSBURG, Florida – Florida regulators are preparing to issue the largest fine against a hospital in recent history. The John Hopkins All Children’s Hospital is expecting a violation fine totaling over $800,000 from the state Agency for Health Care Administration.
This news comes 9 months after a report came out documenting an increase in deaths and complications linked to the hospital’s heart surgery department. Heart surgery has been suspended until the unit is restructured.
As of the writing of this article, the hospital in question ha agreed to nearly $43 million in settlements with families who were affected by the alleged malpractice being charged against them.
