According to ABC Action News, a Martin County man was bitten by an alligator while he was out hog hunting on Saturday (11/9).

The report from WFTS says that 46-year-old James G. Boyce was participating in a hog hunt in the DuPuis Management Area-SW Corbett Wildlife Area, which sits along the Martin/Palm Beach County Line.

Police report that a passerby helped pull the victim to safety. Witnesses say the alligator was approximately 10 feet in length. The Martin County Sheriff’s Aviation Unit had to help locate Boyce in the heavy marsh.

Reports say Boyce sustained a substantial injury to his leg and had to be airlifted by the Martin County Fire Rescue’s LifeStar air ambulance.

Boyce was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach for treatment of his leg, however, his injuries are not life-threatening. There is no further word on his condition.
