“Loaded… with a bullet in the chamber”. That’s how Deputies describe the gun found on a Hillsborough County high school student in Seffner on Tuesday.
News Channel 8 reports that the Hillsborough Sheriffs Office was notified when a teacher had noticed a smell of marijuana on a 17-year-old student at Armwood High School. The teacher spoke with administrators and sought to have the student’s backpack searched.
Upon inspection of the backpack, administrators found a loaded M&P handgun. The gun had a live round in the chamber and a full magazine was also found in the student’s backpack. There was no marijuana found, however, there was a scale.
The sheriff’s office verified that the gun belonged to the student’s parent, however, the parent was unaware the gun was missing.
The student was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm on school property and carrying a concealed weapon.
