Who didn’t see this coming? As if our state’s system for helping the unemployment wasn’t enough of a disaster, Channel 10 reports today that your social security number might have found its way into the wrong hands if you applied for benefits. They say those who were affected have already been notified. So far they say they have “no reports of malicious activity.” But it’s not a bad idea to check your credit report often anyway, especially if you applied for unemployment assistance.

Personally, I always suggest you keep your credit frozen. That way, even if the bad guys get enough of your info, like your social security number, they can’t do anything with it. There’s a money guy on the radio who I always refer to on this. He explains it well and keeps it simple.
