A bill signed by the governor will raise salaries from the 26th highest in the nation to the top 5.
The bill being signed allocates $500 million to the lower-paid teachers in each school district and charter school and will raise the base salary to $47,500. Another $100 million is being put toward experienced teachers already making higher than the base.
