Fans sitting in the stands during the 2020 Stanley Cup Champion rally on September 30, 2020 in Tampa.

The defending Stanley Cup champs will be no doubt be glad to see fans back inside Amalie Arena to “Be the Thunder” this weekend. The Bolts will welcome a maximum of 3,800 fans back for games starting on March 13 against the Nashville Predators. The Lightning have 18 home games remaining on their 2020-21 regular season schedule. The team’s last regular season home game is scheduled for May 7, 2021 against the Dallas Stars.

Until now, only a limited number of family members and friends of the team were let in to see the games. They were spread out on one side of the arena. I was lucky enough to get a peek of what it looked like attending one of these games. While it was great to be back seeing live hockey, it definitely wasn’t the same without fans. The piped in crowd noise is weird on TV, but even stranger in person!
