NEW YORK, NY - SEPTEMBER 11: The 'Tribute in Light' memorial lights up lower Manhattan near One World Trade Center on September 11, 2018 in New York City. The tribute at the site of the World Trade Center towers has been an annual event in New York since March 11, 2002.Throughout the country services are being held to remember the 2,977 people who were killed in New York, the Pentagon and rural Pennsylvania in the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.

20 years this Saturday marks the anniversary of the greatest tragedy to hit American soil. Despite it being so far away, they still are identifying victims of the incident to this day. Just days before the anniversary, 2 new victims have been identified, according to NPR. The attacks claimed over 2,00 victims to include first responders and people in surrounding areas. The effort to identify the victims is considered the largest and most difficult forensic investigation in U.S history.

Dorothy Morgan of New York is the 1,646th victim identified through ongoing DNA analysis of unidentified remains recovered from the World Trade Center site. The other victim identified has had his name withheld per the family. Both Morgan and the unnamed man were identified through new forensic technology advances in DNA Science used at the New York City Office of Medical Examination.
