Schnitt Show

Weekdays 3PM - 6PM

WASHINGTON, DC - FEBRUARY 24: United States Postal Service Postmaster General Louis DeJoy testifies during a House Oversight and Reform Committee hearing on USPS Financial Sustainability February 24, 2021 on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. The USPS recently signed a 10-year deal with Oshkosh Defense to produce the next generation of hybrid electric delivery vehicle able to carry more packages as part of a long term effort to vastly improve the financial performance of the service.

The Postal service has announced not only rate hikes, but we will also see a drastic slowdown in the speed of delivery. Schnitt has never in his time heard a company or even government service, for that matter, come out and say they are going to make their product worse.

This is all a part of Postmaster General Louis Dejoy’s plan to overhaul the United States Postal Service. He is raising rates and slowing down the mail to cut costs across the whole system. Schnitt reminds people that this is a Trump pick, so the Biden Administration is mostly not at fault here. Instead, Schnitt says this was the failure of the current administration for not doing proper house cleaning.

Many people are saying that slowing down the mail could cause significant problems. People are worried they could see issues such as late bills or rent payments, for example. This has critics saying this will undermine people’s faith in the Mail System. Paul Stiedler, an exporter on the USPS from Lexington University, says the rate at 2021 mail travels will be slower than in 1970. Stiedler adds that Dejoy’s plan is a complete disaster.
