Tampa Bay Today With Shriner

ST PETERSBURG, FLORIDA - MAY 27: Members of the United States Special Operations command out of McDill AFB lower the flag onto the field during a game between the Tampa Bay Rays and the Toronto Blue Jays at Tropicana Field on May 27, 2019 in St Petersburg, Florida.

Do you know there are more verses to the Star Spangled than what is customarily sung? Of course, everyone is used to singing before all sporting events, major shows, and more, but Francis Scott Key wrote several verses. So technically, there are four total verses of the song, and Shriner has the audio of a marine singing the entire thing. Shriner isn’t sure if he was doing this for a political statement, but it was powerful enough to get Shriner’s attention.

Shriner thinks it’s fantastic if you pay attention to these extra verses. So did Nadene, who happened to listen to the audio too. Nadene calls into the show and says she was weeping just listening to it as she was driving. Nadene was moved by the extra verses and told Shriner that she would share the video with them when she got to see her grandkids.
