Initially slammed with many people looking to take the seat of Rick Kreisman, it came down to just two. Ken Welch and Robert Blackmon. Well, after the polls closed and the votes were tallied, we have a new mayor for the city of St. Pete.
Mayor Rick Kriseman’s favored successor, Ken Welch, has declared victory in the city’s mayoral race. Welch has earned endorsements from several prominent Bay Area leaders, including Tampa Mayor Jane Castor and Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri, a Republican. Welch points to his track record as a commissioner, creating workforce housing.
Thank you so much, St. Pete. I am honored you have elected me the next Mayor of our incredible city! Because of you, as partners in progress, we will be able to reach new heights.
