Dave Ramsey

Weekdays 1:00pm - 3:00pm

Dalton is calling into the Ramsey Show today because he’s done something rather common for a 20-year-old. Dalton never saved a single penny while he was in high school, and now he is paying the price for it. So he wants to go to college to be a teacher to help those kids sitting where he was just a few years ago.

Here is the problem Dalton has currently. He is still living at home and making only $20,000 a year at his part-time job. Dalton had no savings or anything built up when it came time to leave the nest and venture forth. Despite all these minor things, Dalton went out and decided that he knew Dave would scold him for. Despite making very little a year, Dalton took out a loan on a new vehicle worth $17,000. Meaning he will be paying more of his income on the car than he is taking home.

Daltons has made multiple types of plans to help with this debt, but his parents are scared he is making rash decisions to cover up the mistakes that he has gotten himself into. Dave agrees with them. The guys suggest he find a secondary job at this time so he can cover the car and get it paid off quickly while at the same time, saving money to pursue his goals.
