Tampa Bay Today With Shriner

The great thing about the holidays is the amount of giving people manage to do. So many charities spring up around now, and it’s all to give back to the community. Currently, our sister station WiLD 94.1, is doing their charity, but that doesn’t mean they only deserve credit.

Shriner, who actively portrays good ol’ Saint Nick, got together with Saint Pete Police yesterday to gather over 100 new bikes for children throughout the community. The event initially started in 2019 when the founder Alex DeJesus saw a police officer offer to buy a bike for someone. The event gets bigger every year, and they plan to do more every year.

Each bike comes with a helmet and lock paired with a child or family who could use a boost for the holidays. Victim advocates, local leaders, and officers who patrol the streets help make the matches.
