Take a few minutes and google Covid-19 Economics. If you don’t have that time, click the link, and it will take you to a page that should frighten you. Many countries are reporting that they are going broke trying to recover from the pandemic worldwide. For example, look at Sri Lanka is apparently on the verge of bankruptcy, leaving people to wonder what will happen next.
Americans are not the only ones fighting inflation as the omicron variant pops up and spreads across. The entire world has taken this hit, and every day we are seeing more and more countries report on failing economic strategies. For example, India is now worried about a 3rd wave coming through. It has made it very unclear for countries’ top economists to predict anything because no one knows if or when a new variant will arise that will cause more lockdowns and stop production and exports.
No one leader has had a perfect answer for handling this as throughout just the United States, many places have tried different methods with varying success. However, many in the United States look to Florida with its lack of restrictions as an example, as Florida has seen a booming economy and the lowest transmission rates in recent months. But now that omicron has surged, we are witnessing Florida’s cases rise. Will this be a sign of things to come as the world leaders contemplate more lockdowns and restrictions? Time will tell.
