Investor’s Edge with Gary Kaltbaum

WASHINGTON, DC - MARCH 02: U.S. President Joe Biden, with ashes on his forehead in honor of Ash Wednesday, speaks to reporters before boarding Marine One with First Lady Jill Biden on the South Lawn of the White House on March 02, 2022 in Washington, DC. If you were strong-willed enough, you probably managed to sit through the State of the Union address. President Biden came out and hit all the talking points we expected, and nothing new came out of it. However, one point was missed entirely, and it has many concerns. The many being the ones with thousands in dollars of student loan debt. That old campaign promise of Biden has now come back to bite him again and again, and it’s not looking any better after last night.

The White House says its plans to combat the issue, and if it’s anything like the plan for Afghanistan, we may be doomed. However, its lack of mention has many Biden voters who were promised this worried. Outrage has sparked on Twitter with many who feel that the Biden Administration has forgotten this core promise.

Before the pandemic, the country’s student loan debt exceeded $1.7 trillion larger than the average credit card or auto debt combined. With the midterms looming, it is possible to see many Democrats shift focus to hold on to the dwindling fan base as many of their policies have fallen short and the Covid-19 era procedures finally hit the breaking point.

Biden hit on these topics. For example, raising the minimum wage, extending the child tax credit, implementing paid family leave, and condemning the actions of Russian President Vladimir Putin. [Source CNBC]
