Kaltbaum: The Best Time to Fill Up the Tank

Gas prices are still high and will probably be like that for some time, it was so bad that I saw a guy pushing his car just to get some better mileage. But there is good news out there, if you need gas we can at least tell you when it will be the cheapest.

After a rough couple of weeks, it looks like gas is heading down slightly, and even if it means a few cents, it may be worth filling up your tank right now. It’s early in the week still, and that is when most experts suggest filling up the tank. on Monday and Tuesday after that, the prices increase and reach their highest on Friday and Saturday.

Gas prices are hitting people so hard they are having a hard time affording to go to work right now, and if you think you can just rideshare your way out of this, I have bad news for you. Starting Uber is adding a temporary “fuel fee,” so starting Wednesday. You will have to pay an extra 50-cents for your Uber ride, and an extra 40-cents for your Uber Eats order.

During the last few months, the average price of gas has been roughly $4.34 a gallon, and right now, in the Bay area, we are looking at just a bit higher than that. Unfortunately, according to AAA, we have some of the highest gas prices in the state. Gas prices have set a new Florida record, with the average being $4.34 a gallon; the last record was set back in 2008 when prices were $4.08 a gallon. [Source Fox 35]

• Glide to a Stop

  Let your car come to its own stop as much as possible. Letting off the gas on open stretches when you are nearing a stop means you won't be putting hitting the accelerator which will cause you to use more gas.

• Quit Hitting Rain Puddles

  Rain in Florida, who would have thought it could happen here. When you are driving in the rain, do your best not to drive in the water. Hitting those puddles which you know you want to do will cause you to slow down and increase those RPMS burning more gas.

• Don’t Slam the Gas On the Green Lights

  I love watching burnouts as much as the next one but if you keep doing it you are gonna keep that gas bill high. Don't just slam that accelerator down because the light turned green take your time and you will see better fuel consumption.
• Drive with Load

  Driving with load basically is almost like driving with cruise control you are trying to maintain your car's best performance in RPMS. This is helpful when you’re climbing small hills. You will naturally decrease in speed climbing a hill but push the gas in to try and maintain, but after you crest the hill you will speed up. Just be your own cruise control.

• Coast into Red Lights

  Slowing down is a common theme here with this list and our final tip is no different. Learning to be a better breaker is going to help with gas consumption. If you see a red light ahead, slow down and try timing things so that you can glide through without stopping once it changes to green. This will also help reduce wear and tear on your break pads.

• Let off the Accelerator

  Listen here led foot you need to slow it down. I get it in Florida is hot and you just want to get where you are going and be done but traveling the posted speed limit will help with that gas consumption.
