When you scroll through Facebook, there is a common theme that you come across somebody showing a random math formula asking where they can apply that to what they do now. Things we wish someone would have taught us at some point to make sure we were better off instead of thousands of dollars in debt. Well, Governor Ron Desantis has signed SB1054, which now requires High Schoolers to go through a financial literacy class before they are allowed to graduate.
“Financial literacy is providing a foundation for students that will be applicable in their lives regardless of what path they take,” DeSantis said during a news conference.
This goes into effect for high schoolers starting in 2023. The bill now says that students will have to take:
- Types of bank accounts offered.
- Opening and managing a bank account.
- Basic principles of money management.
- Completing a loan application.
- Local tax assessments.
The bill is aimed to help students be the best adults they can be. [Source WTSP]
