How fun is this? Ride a Zamboni to Bolts playoff games. You know it’s NHL Playoff season when you see a Zamboni rolling through the streets of downtown Tampa.

Well, guess what. For Game 3, you’ll have the opportunity to do just that. Have you seen the Tampa Bay Ice Box? It’s amazing. It’s an official Zamboni, but it’s safe for the road.

A guy named Mark Farrell came up with the concept. He explained to our friends at Fox 13, “This actually goes on the road. It’s completely street-legal. We can take it anywhere around the U.S. if we want to. We tried to license a Zamboni by itself but the state wouldn’t do it so we came up with the idea of taking a van, slicing off the back, and placing a full Zamboni on the back of that.”

Here’s the schedule. It picks up fans beginning an hour and a half before the puck drops. The pickup spot is the Pour House at Grand Central on Kennedy Boulevard. The Tampa Bay Ice Box cruises down Morgan Street and then does drop off at Amalie Arena.

Farrell went on to say, “Every time, we get about 14 people we go to the arena. We get about five runs in before the game starts. We got great music that plays. We got a horn that blows. We take them all to the game for free. We ask them as they get off to support the three charities that we support with this project.”

The group supports three great local charities: OnBikes, Restoring Refuge, and Lighthouse Ministries.

This road-ready Zamboni is one-of-a-kind. You can only experience it right here in the city that is home to the Tampa Bay Lightning. [Source FOX13]
