You may not be a fan of Josh Hawley, but after watching this video, you just might be. During a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing, Sen. Hawley questioned Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm on gas prices. Sec. Granholm started to blame Russia when Sen. Hawley stopped her mid-sentence and called her out on this apparent lie. Senator Hawley recalls that in January in his home state of Missouri, Gas was $2.07 a gallon. Now it’s almost 5$. This price hike started 8 months later, well before Russia invaded Ukraine.
Sen. Hawley demanded that Sec. Granholm gives them her plan to reverse the Biden Admins energy policies that are now impacting Americans worse than ever. Sec. Granholm makes the claim that it is not administration policy that has affected supply and demand. Hawley doesn’t take this answer and rips into her again, asking her why she should believe this herself. Gas prices rose 30% in 8 months, and Sen. Hawley links it to reentering the Paris accord, the cutting of the Keystone Pipeline, as well as the red tape that needed to be cut just to get a lease that the current administration put into place. This was all in just the first few days of President Biden’s administration. How does Sec. Granholm think this wouldn’t affect the price of gas?
