It’s always a bummer when one a restaurant that’s been around this long closes its doors. But owner Larry Scaglione tells the Tampa Bay Times the decision to close is one he’s been thinking about for a year. And a date has been chosen. After serving Tampa diners for decades, Tony’s Restaurant will lock its doors for good when they close on September 2, 2022.

After 40 years, Scaglione says he needs a change of pace. Waking up at 3am for 40 years? I think I can understand that. He’s a third generation owner of the restaurant that first opened in 1929 by his grandfather.

In a message to Facebook followers, Scaglione says he’ll continue the catering side of the business for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and … divorces.
If you never got a chance to visit, you have a few weeks left. They are open for breakfast and lunch weekdays from 7am to 3pm. [Source: Tampa Bay Times]
