In a stunt seen around the country, Ron Desantis sent 50 illegal migrants to Martha’s Vineyard, and now Gavin Newsome wants him charged with kidnapping. This isn’t Newsome’s only Governor on Governor action, as he has targeted Texas Governor Greg Abbot. Abbot and Arizona Governor Greg Ducey have sent busloads of migrants to “Sanctuary Cities” across the country. Their reason is that they can’t handle the thousands crossing the line as it is, so they send them to people who state they can.
Now that the press has all gone after Desantis and Abbot, Gavin Newsome wanted in on the action. So he quickly condemned the Governors’ actions and called on the DOJ to file criminal charges against them. In addition, he labeled them inhumane to move them to cities outside of Texas. A quote from Newsome:
“I urge US DOJ to investigate whether the alleged fraudulent inducement would support charges of kidnapping under relevant state laws, which could serve as a predicate offense for charges under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization (RICO) provisions of the Organized Crime Control Act.”
Desantis responded to the criticism by stating that the people calling foul were beating their chest during the Trump administration about being willing to take immigrants in. So now you get to experience a small fraction of the overall crisis at the border.
