Today is Adam Levine’s 44th birthday, and to commemorate the Maroon 5 vocalist’s special day, we compiled a list of lesser-known facts about Levine you may not know about.
Levine began his musical career in 1994 with the band Kara's Flowers; he was the lead vocalist and guitarist.
In 2001, the group was reformed as Maroon 5, and released their first album, 'Songs About Jane,' which went multi-platinum in the US.
As part of Maroon 5, Levine has received three Grammy Awards, three American Music Awards, an MTV Video Music Award, and a World Music Award.
In 2012, Levine made his acting debut as recurring character Leo Morrison in the second season of 'American Horror Story: Asylum.'
He owns a record label, 222 Records, and a production company, 222 Productions, which produced television shows 'Sugar' and 'Songland.'
Adam Levine married Behati Prinsloo in 2014, after two years of dating. They have two daughters, 4-year-old Dusty Rose and 3-year-old Gio Grace
Levine comes from a musical family, attributing his mother's idols – Simon & Garfunkel, Fleetwood Mac, and The Beatles – to shaping his musical style, calling them 'a huge part of my upbringing.'
Levine studied at Five Towns College in New York after the break up of Kara's Flowers, where he was a writer's assistant on the CBS show, 'Judging Amy.'
In 2013, Levine was named People magazine's 'Sexiest Man Alive,' becoming the first singer and the second non-actor (after John F. Kennedy, Jr.) to claim the title.
Levine is a supporter of same-sex marriage and LGBTQ+ rights. (his brother Michael is gay) In 2011, he made a video on Maroon 5's official YouTube account in support of the It Gets Better Project. The next year, he announced that Maroon 5 had changed the location of their post-Grammy Awards show because of the 'unnamed Los Angeles restaurant's backing of Proposition 8.'
